Corona Virus & Human Tyranny

There are two simple steps if taken by everyone, things won’t remain as they are now, and a decent life is guaranteed for every single human being in this world! In a selfish world were the strong overtakes the weak, blood is shed everywhere for “personal/national interests” and immorality spreads to the extent that the good is seen as bad, a liar as an honest and a deceiver as a trustworthy, has no hope of maintaining the balance of decent life. What I mean by a balance of decent life is “the life that every human being deserves regardless of their color, race and/or religion”. The only way-of-life (RELIGION) that limelight such justice is ISLAM. I am not trying in this short article to debate or to conquer the readers’ mind to impose my thoughts ideology, for the history is the witness of the great Islamic era in which Jews, Christians and people with multiple beliefs have lived an honorable life amongst Muslims under the umbrella of Islam. I am writing this piece to logic with you. You know that powerful nations oppress those weaker and insist to keep them illiterate, use tyrant rules over them and steals as much of their wealth as they can. That is not all, they also sell weapons to cause those illiterate people to kill one another.

Oppression prevailed the surface of the earth, there is a wound in every house and there are great number of widows, orphans and vulnerable people. Rich people get richer and poor get poorer. In this medium of injustice, humans need to know their place and their position. Allah (God) the Almighty says in Quran “Verily the likeness of (this) worldly life is as the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, so by it arises the intermingled produce of the earth of which men and cattle eat until when the earth is clad with its adornments and is beautified, until when its people think that they have all the powers of disposal over it, Our Command reaches it by night or by day and We make it like a clean-mown harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday! Thus We explain the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, laws, etc.) in detail for the people who reflect.” Read the verse again and again and highlight the part that says “until when its people think that they have all the powers of disposal over it”. Is not this true in our case and life? People of this planet thought that they have all power over this earth and that no power exists that can stop them from doing what they want to do. I believe some of you have already heard a statement like this. When people reach to this extent of egotism, the thing that will discipline them and return them to their senses is the other part of the verse, i.e. “Our Command reaches it by night or by day and We make it like a clean-mown harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday!”, but people do not usually learn from the lessons.

Now that this corona virus has spread all over the world, we can see clearly the arrogance of man! Let them realize how weak they are, no matter how knowledgeable they think they are, there are things, so many things that they do not know! Cannot you fight a tiny virus or produce vaccination to protect your own people? Where is your might, power, intelligence? Cannot you strengthen your economy or at least protect it from going down? Many people of poor countries were deprived from crossing borders seeking decent life for themselves and their families, but walls and strict laws and regulations were stipulated to prevent them. So many people are sieged and forced to live in predetermined spaces, not allowed to leave or live decently in a way that they can manage their affairs properly. Now the entire countries of the world are sieged with their own decision. Any civilization will inevitably be destroyed or go to vanish as long as there are injustice and oppression.

Going back to what I started this article, these simple two steps that will lift this crisis, with no doubt, are the only choice we have. They are briefed as follows:

First: believing in Allah (God) and returning to Him in repentance. Every single one of us should look at himself/herself and contemplate over his life. How are we living? Are we following God’s orders and preventing from what is evil and prohibited? Are we even submitting our wills to God? Are we worshiping Him and giving Him the due grandeur He deserves? He created us, protects us, feeds us, cures us, gave us life, did not charge us for breathing (while now are charged of the artificial breathing devices), He knows what is best for us and He gave us the simplest commandments that we must follow and obey. He sent us prophets, the last of whom was Prophet Mohammed, to convey a message and teach us what God wants from us. Then so many people spend their lifespan denying this message and the prophethood of Mohammed, and some others with no sanity deny the existence of God.

Second: cooperating with one another, advising one another and forcing these crazy leaders to STOP oppression, injustice and killing innocent people. If the punishment descends, no one will be saved. We have to be united against oppression and oppressors. Many people living in peace and welfare think that they have nothing to do with what happens around them in the world. If you are safe today, a time will come when you will experience fear, so why keep silent now? Most people experiencing peace are wrong in their viewpoint, for we all (humans) live in one ship, if that ship sinks due to the injustice practiced by the people on board, the entire humanity will sink, then regret won’t benefit afterwards.

This is an advice for my fellow mates on this ship that we all call “our-planet”.

Paradise – (Part 1)

Towards Paradise

These are short articles I am going to write about Paradise and Its description in light of the narrations from the Quran and the Hadeeths of the prophet, peace be upon him. The articles shall be presented in sequence, starting from the time when people attempt to cross the Path (As-Serat). In these series of articles, I am trying to shed light on the authentic Hadeeths that describe Paradise and some statements from the scholars such as Ibn Al-Qayyem and others. So let’s start with those who will cross the Path.

After staying for an entire day in the hereafter that is equal to “fifty thousand years” under the sun waiting for the judgement of the Lord the Almighty, the believers who received their books with their right hands will be permitted to cross the Path (As-Serat). They are those whom Allah the Almighty willed to cross the Path, for they will be the dwellers of Paradise. That is because they have believed in the Oneness of Allah, His messengers and the day of judgement. The only way to reach Paradise is to cross the Path (As-Serat) which was described to be: sharper than a sword, thinner than a hair and hotter than an ember and the only way to cross is to have good deeds. No one will cross it unless they have the good deeds that qualify people to pass. Abu Saeed Al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him (one of the companions of the prophet peace be upon him), said that the Prophet peace be upon him stated “.. so believers will pass (the path), some in the blink of an eye, some like lightening, some like wind, some like birds and some like best horses and riders. Therefore, some people shall be safe, some shall get scratches and some others will be thrown in Hell Fire”, related by Bukhari and Muslim.

In another Hadeeth, related by Imam Muslim, the prophet Mohammed peace be upon him said “.. they [the believers] will pass according to their deeds, and your prophet is standing by the Path (As-Serat) saying: “O Lord, Your safety we seek, Your safety we seek” until the deeds of some people are not strong enough so they start crawling”. In an interesting Hadeeth, furthermore, Abu Saeed Al-Kudari may Allah be pleased with him said that the Prophet peace be upon him stated “on the day of resurrection, a call upon people will be made “those who worship something let them follow it. Therefore, those who worship the sun will follow the sun, those who worship the moon will follow the moon and those who worship tyrants will follow them, then they will (all) be converted to Hell. Allah the Almighty says (Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), they and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error) *94* and the whole hosts of Satan together *95*).

By crossing the Path (As-Serat), believers will rush towards the gates of Paradise. On their way thereon, they will find pleasing and comforting scent. That is the scent of Paradise that will be described in the following section.

The Scent of Paradise

There are a number of traditions (Ahadeeth) describing the scent of Paradise. The prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him stated that he did not see, during his lifetime, two types of people who will be in Hell (because of offending Allah’s orders and commandments). The first type are people who whip others out of authority and power, the second kind are women who do not wear proper clothes as commanded by Allah the Almighty and His messenger, i.e. they are semi-naked. “They – these two types of people – will not enter Paradise nor they will find its scent, though its scent could be found from such and such [great] distance”. Says the prophet peace be upon him (Related by Imam Muslim – may Allah have mercy on him). In another narration (by Imam Al-Bukhari – may Allah have mercy on him), the prophet peace and blessings be upon him said “And its scent could be smelt from forty years distance”.

In fact, there are several Hadeeths that describe the scent of Paradise and specifies some people who will not find that great breeze and scent for great sins they have done. We were also informed of some people who found that pleasing scent while they are still in this life, of them Anas Ibn Al-Nadher, on the day of Uhud battel. On that day, Anas said to Saa’d Bin Muadh “How great is that scent of Paradise, I can smell it on this battle of Uhud”.

Whenever there is a rain, a great feeling and nice smell fills out the entire area, filling the hearts of people around that place with great sense of pleasure and satisfaction as if that breeze touches their hearts. That is a smell in this life, which incomparable to the life of the hereafter. Allah the Almighty says “and If you see [O Mohammed] there, you will see a delight and great dominion”. Indeed, the first thing that believers will find is the scent of Paradise, as if Allah the Almighty is preparing them for the greatest thing they will ever find, and they are received with that great scent. They are now longing to see Paradise, enter it and enjoy what they have always dreamed of. In the next parts, we will get to know about the gates of Paradise and how believers will be admitted to Paradise, to find the eternal and everlasting life.
